This & That

Featured Music: October

I love music. I find myself lost in a stream of music videos almost every day.

All kinds of music – Oldies – Folk – Rap – Pop – Rock – Opera – Classical – Alternative – Foreign … seriously all kinds.

So why not have a monthly feature of different music and artists that I have grown to enjoy and love?  Maybe you haven’t heard of one and discover you like it too!!

So here it is for October and the start of my monthly music feature.

It was hard to decide where to start, so I am going to go with some of my old school favorites. I say old school because they are songs I grew up with. Good rhythm and songs that I will listen to until I can’t hear anymore.
These all have a light rock, folk and easy listening feel.

Tracy Chapman – Fast Car
I have always enjoyed this song but it came to mean a great deal to me in my mid to late 20’s. I could relate to it on so many levels and felt like it spoke right to something similar I was going through myself. I love Tracy Chapman and you may see other songs of hers featured in the future.

Donovan – Gold Watch Blues
I was introduced to this song years ago and fell in love immediately. Maybe it’s the poet in me but the lyrics tell a tale of truth when it came to big corporations and their workers back in the old days.

Bob Dylan – Blowing in the Wind
Bob Dylan is a classic artist and poet. This is one of my favorite songs of his. It’s quite popular but if you haven’t heard it, give it a try!!

FleetWood Mac – Leather & Lace
This won’t be the last time you see them featured. I love Stevie Nicks but this was the first song I ever fell in love with of hers.

Imogen Heap – Hide & Seek
A beautiful song that has some deep meaning. Sampled by Jason Derulo, I enjoy what he did with it as well.  I had heard and enjoyed this first before his and became a fan of both.

So there’s my 5 music picks for October.  I really do enjoy music and think I will enjoy highlighting various songs over the coming months.

If there is a song you want me to check out be sure to drop it in the comments!!  I absolutely love checking out new music!
