Grief

There’s a darkness that dwells where you used to be
And I fear it may consume the light in me.
Your smile, your touch, your laugh, your eyes
The memories of you got me hypnotized
Living in a fog, the seconds blur by
I can’t understand or reason why
Lord, Sweet Jesus, help me to see
Beyond the chaos that’s growing in me.
Unbearable hurt, words left unspoken
With your fate, my joy was stolen.
There’s a hole in my heart, open for all to see
For there’s nothing but memories where you used to be.
